I'd like to highlight this part.. 'In some cases, if we feel a topic needs wider exposure and input, we may suggest that someone go to oneof the Big 3 (which includes Jwn) I’ve listed, open a thread, and then share the thread here so we can all follow along and maybe join in.'

Aawa think JWN is the cream of the crop

after we have completed a few of our current projects and the dust settles a little bit, im sure that the possibility of setting up some kind of forum will be discussed.
will we try to manage a larger bb type forum like jehovahs-witness.net, jehovahswitnessrecovery.com, or exjehovahswitnessforum.yuku.com?

Will we try to manage a larger BB type forum like Jehovahs-Witness.net, JehovahsWitnessRecovery.com, or exjehovahswitnessforum.yuku.com? That is unlikely. Those forums are already the cream of the crop, along with many other fine forums. But we may put up a custom mini-forum that focuses on specific topics and allows for suggestions. In some cases, if we feel a topic needs wider exposure and input, we may suggest that someone go to one of the Big 3 I’ve listed, open a thread, and then share the thread here so we can all follow along and maybe join in. We love polite and constructive discussion." http://aawa.co/blog/a-new-name-and-an-apology/

My Final Goodbye
by Lady Lee ini want to start by saying i will not participate in discussion here about my resignation as a moderator at jwn.. simon please consider this as my resignation from that position.. i have been posting on this board for almost 12 years.
i know some of you a lot, others a little and some not very well at all.
i have remained here for those of you who have needed support as you make the transition out of the wts, who needed someone to listen to your experiences of abuse at the hands of jehovah's witnesses, and to both laugh and cry with you as you progress out of the watchtower society.. we know that we have all experienced the cruelty of abuse of one kind or another.

Need Help Finding Article
by turtleturtle ini am looking for a questions from readers in the wt.
the question was along the lines of asking why the wt promoted the stake, rather than the cross, even though history shows the romans did use the cross in executions.. the answer from the wt was along the lines of admitting that the romans did use crosses for execution, but in the area where jesus' death took place, it was commonplace to use stakes, since lumber was not readily available.. can anyone find this for me?.

Nearest I could find..Bible teach book 'Why True Christians Do Not Use the Cross in Worship'.. "Explaining why a simple stake was often used for executions, the book Das Kreuz und die Kreuzigung (the cross and the crucifixion), by Hermann Fulda, states 'Trees were not everywhere available at the places chosen for public execution. So a simple beam was sunk into the ground. On this the outlaws, with hands raised upwards and often also with their feet, were bound or nailed."

Did the Romans use crosses or stakes??
by Monsieur inthe cross is so prevalent, i would be inclined to believe that this is for a reason.
can anybody provide references for either one?

this is one of the pillars of their faith.. .
if believers want anything to happen, they pray to god.. why?.

Jgnat said: 'We lost a great poster here to hodgkin's lymphoma I believe. I did not pray for a cure, but rather for an end to the estrangement with his daughters. My prayer was answered. With or without God, these prayers help.' -- So either God acted on your prayer, the result of which I won't even put into a sentence because it makes me feel ill.. Or God didn't act on your prayer, and what happened would have happened anyway.. Did your last sentence mean 'with or without God, these prayers help US TO FEEL BETTER/FEEL AS THOUGH WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT A SITUATION BEYOND OUR CONTROL'? If so, that's a good point...

A Couple of thoughts on July WT
by Phizzy ini actually got a bucket close by and read some of the study ed.
july 13 w.t my first reaction was amazement at how very muddled the whole thing was, i think if i had all those months to write articles since the noo lite was presented at the agm i could make a much better job of arguing the new ideas, and our very own sd7 could do even better !.
for instance, it is claimed in the chart, and the 2nd article i think, that the harvest began in 1914, by whom ?.

If you're referring to what I said to you on the *When did you stop believing in God* thread: 'good grief that sounds condescending'..It is perhaps you that was making the assumption, that I thought that you as a person are patronising.. I was pointing out how what you said may sound to believers.. You were saying that 'Re, the OP and Topic Title, belief in god is optional. Believe in him if you wish'.. I misread that at the time as you giving others 'permission' to believe, which was of course an assumption on my part. For example, I was once at a door where I said 'well it is your choice whether to believe or not'.. He looked me right in the eyes and said 'yes I know' (difficult to convey in writing but he didn't look happy). Anyway, apologies if you felt I was accusing you, or sorry to waste your time if you didn't.. Love the irony in your Op, by the way ;)

Hope that didn't sound too harsh.. If anything, this kind of exchange of ideas shows how differently ambiguous staments can be understood.

Rather than making a patronising 'is english your 1st language' comment to Steve2, perhaps take another look at some quotes from her Op.. "We have learned that if a child is being abused we cannot remainsilent. To do so would make us complicit in the abuse..." "We have the option, of course, of surrounding our conscience with a sort of cocoon of complacency, passively “going along,” shielding our inner feelings from whatever might disturb them. When issues arise, rather than take a stand we can in effect say, “I’ll just sit this one out; others may be affected—even hurt—but I am not.” "..it would seem that the one who can say, “At least I stood for something,” must feel greater satisfaction than the one who rarely stood for anything." "I can no longer remain silent."
